Franklin United Methodist Church

Children and Youth Ministry

At Franklin UMC, we are so excited to have an active, enthusiastic, and ever-growing Youth and Children's ministry.  The youth at Franklin UMC know the true meaning of Christian service and set a fine example of Christian love by putting their faith to work.  Our youth participate in the Annual Feast Of Sharing, serve the college youth at Wesley in College Station, attend youth led work camps such as UMARMY and JUMMP, work on the Habitat for Humanity  house, raise money yearly for World Vision through the 30-Hour Famine, put in time at the Clothes Closet, and occasionally work at the Food Pantry.  They believe in assisting their neighbors in community service and prove it!  The youth Sunday School class meets every Sunday from 9:45-10:45 in the Activity Building, and the UMYF meet Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:30.
For children kindergarten through fifth grade, Franklin UMC offers a Christian-based after-school program called Kid's Celebrate.  This after-school program allows kids to celebrate Christ through games, music, skits, puppetry, and crafts.  The church van picks kids up from the elementary and Middle school at 3:30 every Monday and the program runs until 5:00.  Presently there are 25 children registered.

Posted 10/28/07 - Below are a few photos from the Fall Festival held on October 28, 2007.
The Youth showed up in force to help children enjoy the day. Adults had many choices
of baked goods and canned goods in the 'Jammin' For Jesus booth. Food was delicious, too!

The areas of the activities building and outside were lined with many, many activities for kids.
Above, right, the Hicks' families enjoyed the BBQ sandwiches. Below, left, DeeAnn, Beth, and
Benjamin helped put together a scarecrow. One of the youth manned the baked goods tables
(yes, there were more for sale than this).

Jenny Cate, Youth Leader, and her mother, helped with the Jammin' For Jesus booth.

Posted 8/22/07 - Below is a group photo from June's UMArmy,
following by several smaller photos of the groups and activities.

Click here to download the Vacation Bible School video.
It is a Windows Media Video (.wmv file), 67.3 MB, and 27 minutes long,
so it will require a high-speed Internet connection (DSL or wireless).
DVDs of the video will be available for teachers and families of the participants
from the church office.

To view all photos in a slide show and purchase any of them,
please click here: http://msanne.smugmug.com.
All profits will go to the Youth programs at FUMC.

Many thanks to our wonderful staff, most (but not all) of whom are pictured here.

Watching the video will give you some understanding of how very hard these folks worked!

Catching the "youth leaders" to create a photo was a tough job. They volunteered to take over the recreation activities when the original leader became ill; they also helped with the Son Force activities and the puppets...and all of this just shortly after returning from UMArmy. WOW! We are all grateful for their energy, care, and many kindnesses with the younger children.
